Ingest continues. We do not silently drop your telemetry to protect you from a bill — we email at 80% and you can set a hard cap, which switches us to deterministic trace-ID sampling so you keep whole traces rather than fragments.

Before you ask sales
What happens when I go over my span quota?
Nothing breaks. We keep ingesting and bill the overage at $0.18 per million spans on Team, $0.12 on Scale. You can set a hard cap in project settings if you would rather we start sampling instead — sampling is deterministic by trace ID, so you keep whole traces rather than fragments.
Is the free tier a trial?
No. Developer is free permanently: 5 million spans a month, 7-day retention, one project, unlimited seats. It is the tier we use for our own side projects. We would rather you outgrow it than expire out of it.
Do you charge per seat?
No. Seats are unlimited on every tier, including free. Charging engineers for read access to their own telemetry makes teams share logins, which makes audit trails useless.
Is there an annual discount?
Two months free on annual billing for Team and Scale. Enterprise agreements are negotiated per contract — usually annual, occasionally multi-year with a volume commitment.
Can I move my existing traces in?
Yes, if they are OTLP. We accept historical backfill over the same ingest endpoint with an explicit timestamp, up to your plan's retention window. Anything older is rejected rather than silently dropped.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data stays readable for 30 days after cancellation, and export stays enabled for the whole period so you can take it with you. After 30 days it is deleted, including from backups within a further 35 days.
